Inside My World OST

Hello! My name is Cole Dabolish and this is my first Game Jam submission ever! I recently started music production and composition shortly after high school and just started studying music production and music in college! I am more than excited to learn from this Jam and hopefully compete in more with better music over time! I chose to stick more to the word theme while also taking some inspiration from the vibe of the drawing. I have three tracks ready here, Rise and Fall, I imagined as kind of being utilized in a cutscene where maybe the hero of the game gets into a fight and then suddenly loses and gets knocked into the sea where he slowly opens his eyes and realizes he is in a new world of sorts. The intense ostinato at the beginning represents the fight, the brass melody that comes in shortly after represents the fight turning towards the hero’s favor, then the kind of decline in volume going into the creepy crescendoing lutes represent the hero slowly sinking into the ocean. The female vocals in my head represented the hero opening his eyes and taking a look around and realizing he is no longer home. The little wooden flute melody at the end was a somber touch that signified that he has reached the new environment. All in all this combines a very intense orchestral feel with a very ethereal somber setting. Diminishing Returns was kind of put together by accident. I was messing with some chords and accidentally started on the diminished chord instead of the tonic and after playing it back with the strings and female vocal setting on one of my vsts, I actually fell in love with the sound. It gave a very somber feeling that kind of extended off of the feeling that was presented towards the middle and end of Rise and Fall. I imagine in the game that this piece extends from Rise and Fall and kind of acts as a somber and mysterious theme to the new world the hero has landed himself into which would be an underwater kingdom of sorts. Bittersweet starts off as a really upbeat track. The goal of this track was to give the feeling of the hero returning to his homeland and feeling happy memories flood back in, until he digs a little deeper and discovers how the town has changed for the worse. Switching from a happy upbeat major key section to a somber intense minor key section shows the emotions of the hero as he unfolds the dark secrets of his once beloved home.

For the video I had to make the midi audio because my pc did not like running obs and the midi as I don't have a powerful machine and it kept just not playing and crashing.
